Once upon a time,
there was a person named Ryan,
a critic of movies
who knows he is not lyin’.
On a nice Thursday evening,
he and his mom went to “The Grinch”,
whom both thought this
ought to have something of a pinch.
But he was aware
that the original can’t be beat
since Boris Karloff
has the best amount of heat.
The version he could not stand
was the Jim Carrey one.
It seems like that execution
wasn’t a whole lot of fun.
After seeing the reincarnation,
he thought, “Not too bad.
There weren’t any flaws
that drove me really mad.”
For Ryan, the emotion of it
was still very intact.
That would be the message
and solid sympathy in fact.
Sure, the story has done
so many times before.
That doesn’t mean this version
can walk out the front door!
For the negative flaws,
It would be for Cindy-Lou Who,
whom Ryan’s own vision
didn’t cook much good stew.
The sub-plots involving Cindy
made Ryan cringe a bit.
It was going for the bland,
but not for the wit.
Illumination of all companies
made “The Grinch” work.
They were the company that made
“The Lorax” to him a real jerk.
Benedict Cumberbatch,
made a believable green person,
whose humor and mean factor
at times can a bit worsen.
Meanwhile, Kenan Thompson
was funny as Brickelbaum.
He reminded him of the humor
brought to his lovely mom.
The reindeer and the dog, Max,
were both very adorable and cute.
They added some decent adoration
to make their presentation mute.
The weirdest thing for him to see
is that Pharrell Williams narrated.
That might be the oddest thing
Ryan for sure never hated.
Coming out of the theater,
Ryan came out with a smile
that “The Grinch” was not
disgusting, brutal, and vile.
It had the message and charm
to make the green person have sympathy.
He thought it claimed the best
modern “The Grinch” that will forever be.
