NOTE: I am only reviewing their food aspects, not the place as a whole with all of the arcades and bowling included. I am sure it would be lots of fun to play in those particular areas, but as a restaurant reviewer, I focus on the one simple thing, food.
In the way I look at restaurants, the main ones I always avoid are usually the ones that involve bowling, arcades, and many sports of all kinds. Despite two years ago of me kind of liking “Main Event Entertainment”, it seems like the places I went to were meant for the fun aspects rather than the food. A perfect example is “Dave & Buster’s”, where the food wasn’t my cup of Lipton tea at all and it reminded me of a more upscale version of “Chuck E. Cheese’s”. However, my opinion on these places changed when I went for something I wouldn’t think I could like.
At the “MIB Financial Park” in Rosemont, there is this restaurant called “Kings”, which I first thought, “This is going to be not my cup of Lipton tea.” Suddenly, when I entered into the place, I was extremely surprised. I was surprised in general that there was a room named “The Draft Room”, where it is more set as a casual restaurant rather than a gaming place. There is also a dining section that it does include regular arcade games as well as a main bowling area, which of course is the main dining area. The dining section I ate at was at “The Draft Room”. I couldn’t be more satisfied than ever. The atmosphere has around 4-5 big screens where customers can see the latest and greatest sports in the best high-definition quality. Not just that, but the decor and chairs are very clean and fresh as well.
As always, why would I not get a strawberry lemonade for a drink at a restaurant? Their strawberry lemonade I would honestly compare to something like Buffalo Wild Wings. It would be where the taste of the Strawberry puree can have an artificial aftertaste after tasting the puree and the lemonade together. This would not be somewhat of a positive, but more of a negative because I am not the biggest person when it comes to artificial tastes. It still is an enjoyable drink overall despite of this flaw.
I decided to also try one of their appetizers, which are their Southwestern Spring Rolls. It was a choice between that or their Calamari. When the waiter served them, I was very impressed with the unique presentation of the rolls. The thing that I really love about these is that it comes with this amazing guacamole dip to taste with it. I have never seen restaurants serve the rolls with Guacamole before. Usually, they bring out sweet and sour sauces when it comes to this dish. Both the guacamole and the spring rolls together taste very good, with the rolls having a very spicy kick to it provided by chili peppers.
I was very interested to see what their main courses would be after I ate the spring rolls. Apparently, they are famously known for their pizzas as well as their burgers. I was in the mood for a sandwich because I saw that they had a potentially delicious Mozzarella sandwich. I decided to get it of course since the images looked interesting. On the side, I wanted to get my usual: Sweet Potato Fries, but they were shaped as waffles. I was very shocked that they would offer a honey mustard dip with the fries since it might have a great match together in taste.
After I ate the sandwich, I honestly thought it was one of the finest sandwiches I have ever had, period. The bread together along with the tomatoes and basil pesto was complete magic in every way possible. The texture alone of this sandwich makes me think that places like “Kings” might have astounding effort to come. Also, the sweet potato fries with the honey mustard dip reminded me of something like the pretzel I had at Roadhouse, in which the dip was a liquid style of it. Both the fries and dip tasted like pure gold.
On a final note, I highly recommend you go to this place if you are in the mood for fun and games, plus satisfying food to eat especially the Mozzarella sandwich. The room I would most likely recommend if you somewhat are not in the mood for the exhilarating fun would be “The Draft Room”. If you are indoor skydiving like Patrick Swayze in “Point Break” at Rosemont, you might as well take a bite at the terrific “Kings” after that.
